Overview

Quartz is seeking a part-time intern to join our Medical Coding team from June to December 2025.  This paid internship will offer valuable experience and growth opportunities to prepare you for the next steps in your career. This internship would be ideal for someone who is able to work part-time to gain hands-on exposure within the health insurance field while completing their Medical Coding Diploma/Degree. Hours and availability are flexible between 8 am-5 pm, Mon-Fri, estimating about 20 hours/week.

Responsibilities

You will participate and learn important skills in real-world situations that can be applied to your career beyond the classroom to include, but not be limited to:

  • Industry Knowledge: health insurance products, regulations, competitors, recent news
  • Professional Skills: communication, time management, workplace etiquette
  • Technical Skills: Knowledge of HIPAA regulations, application of coding concepts to submitted medical claims, analytical problem solving skills, strong communication

Qualifications

  • Seeking a student pursuing a Medical Coding Diploma or Degree program and Graduating between December 2025 and June 2026
  • Completion of a Procedure (CPT/HCPCS) and Diagnosis (ICD-10) Coding course by the start of internship
  • Demonstrated interest in Medical Coding as a possible career path
  • Ability to work 20 hours a week from June to August 2025, and extending into the school year through the end of 2025

Applicants work remotely, with the ability to visit our office in Madison, WI at least 3 days throughout the summer. Hardware and equipment will be provided by the company, but candidates must have access to high-speed, non-satellite Internet to successfully work from home.
