Join our team as a Premium Billing Coordinator and play an important role in ensuring accurate, timely premium billing and payment processes that support our members, employer groups, and business partners.

In this role, you will manage a variety of premium billing activities, including collections, delinquency management, invoices, account reconciliation, customer service, and cash receipts. You will investigate discrepancies, resolve outstanding balances, support accurate financial transactions, and work closely with internal teams and external customers to keep accounts moving forward.

Responsibilities

  • Perform collection activities for outstanding premium balances across employer groups, Health Insurance Marketplace members, and individual accounts.
  • Send late payment notices and monitor accounts throughout the delinquency and grace period process.
  • Initiate termination requests for members and groups when appropriate based on established policies and payment requirements.
  • Process monthly billing cycles and validate billing information before release to third-party vendors.
  • Create ad hoc invoices for members and groups as needed.
  • Prepare weekly and monthly invoices for the self-insured line of business.
  • Reconcile self-billed groups and partner with groups to resolve outstanding items.
  • Perform monthly and quarterly reconciliations across multiple lines of business and collaborate with internal partners to research and resolve discrepancies.
  • Respond to premium billing questions from members, employer groups, and internal partners through phone, email, and customer service tickets.
  • Research account balances and transaction activity to provide accurate and timely information.
  • Post daily cash receipts accurately and within established timeframes.
  • Reconcile bank deposits to system activity and perform cumulative balancing.
  • Process adjustments related to returned or rejected payments.
  • Process refunds for reconciled credit balances.
  • Complete payment changes forms and other account updates as needed.

Qualifications

  • Associate’s degree in finance, accounting, or a related business field OR high school equivalency and at least
  • 3+ years of relevant professional experience in a Finance or Accounting functional area, including exposure to transactional processing related to billing and cash receipts.
  • Knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting.
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills, including the ability to work with pivot tables and linked workbooks.
  • Comfort working with computer systems, analytical tools, and automated general ledger systems.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to investigate discrepancies and identify appropriate solutions.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills when working with internal teams and external customers.

Hardware and equipment will be provided by the company, but candidates must have access to high-speed, non-satellite Internet to successfully work from home.
