Overview

Quartz is seeking a creative, detail-oriented Graphic Design Intern to join our Marketing team for Summer 2027. This internship offers the opportunity to work on meaningful print and digital design projects that support real business initiatives while collaborating with experienced designers and marketing professionals. 

As a member of the design team, you'll contribute to a variety of projects and gain hands-on experience creating visual communications that align with Quartz's brand standards. Rather than working solely on intern-specific assignments, you'll be treated as an active contributor and valued member of the team.

Responsibilities

What You'll Do 

As a Graphic Design Intern, you'll work alongside our creative team to support a wide variety of print and digital marketing initiatives. You'll gain exposure to the full creative process while contributing to projects that have a meaningful impact across the organization. 

Responsibilities may include: 

  • Designing and updating print and digital marketing materials 
  • Creating visual assets that align with established brand standards 
  • Assisting with advertising and promotional campaigns 
  • Creating and maintaining icons and graphics within Quartz's design library 
  • Editing, licensing, and preparing stock photography and digital assets 
  • Supporting internal and external communications initiatives 
  • Collaborating with designers, marketers, and business partners on a variety of creative projects 
  • Participating in creative reviews and contributing ideas to project discussions 

Examples of projects may include: 

  • Billboards and advertising materials 
  • Network maps and visual communication pieces 
  • Custom icon creation and library management 
  • Stock photo selection, licensing, and editing 
  • Marketing collateral for print and digital channels

Qualifications

To be considered for this opportunity, candidates must: 

  • Provide a link to their design portfolio on their résumé 
  • Demonstrate an interest in Marketing, Brand Development, and/or Graphic Design as a possible career path  
  • Have hands-on experience with Adobe Creative Suite products (Photoshop, InDesign, Acrobat, Illustrator)
  • Have successfully completed at least one college-level course in Graphic Design or Design Fundamentals 
  • Be available to work 40 hours per week from June to August 2027 
  • Graduate between December 2027 and May 2028 
  • Live within a 3-hour radius of Madison, WI and be willing to travel to headquarters from June to August 
  • Attend the summer intern program kickoff and retreat (June 1-4, 2027), and final intern presentation (Late July/Early August) 
  • Be authorized to work for any employer in the United States without requiring work visa sponsorship from Quartz, now or in the future 

 

Hardware and equipment will be provided by the company, but candidates must have access to high-speed, non-satellite Internet to successfully work from home.
